Article I: Name
The name of this club will be the Eugene Rugby
Football Club.
Article II: Membership
Membership is open to anyone regardless of age,
race, creed, religion, color, sex, national origin,
ancestry, sexual orientation, or political affiliation.
In the following articles, a "member in good
standing" is one who has fully paid all membership
dues and is not under current sanction from the Executive
Committee.
Article III: Officers
Section I:
The officers of the
club shall be the President, Vice-President, Treasurer,
Secretary, and Captain. Upon adoption of this
constitution, the Club officers will be as follows: John
Benazzi, President; C. Michael Arnold, Vice-President;
Greg Farrell, Treasurer; and Shane Card, Captain. The
Secretary position will be appointed by the Officers for
the first term.
Section II:
Candidates for office must have been club members
in good standing for at least one (1) season (fall,
spring, or summer). In unusual circumstances, this
requirement may be waived in the case of the Team Captain
at the discretion of the team Coach.
Section III:
Candidates for offices other than those of Team
Captain must be nominated and seconded by members in good
standing and shall be elected at a General Meeting by a
simple majority of club members in good standing. The
office of Team Captain(s) may be filled the same way, but
in unusual circumstances Captains may be chosen by the
coach with no election being held; the Coach shall
consult with the Officers.
Section IV:
The term shall be one year for each officer. The
duties and dates of terms shall be set forth in the Club Bylaws. The Bylaws will be
immediately created and adopted by the Officers upon
ratification of this Constitution. Amendments to the
Bylaws can only be done by a 2/3 vote of team membership.
Article V: Meetings
General Meetings shall be held at least twice a
year in the Spring and Fall and may be
called at any time at the discretion of the Executive
Committee in response to members requests.
Article VII: Amendments
This constitution may be amended
(i) by providing
written notification and the proposed amendment to all
club members; and then
(ii) by requesting
the Executive Committee to call a General Meeting for
members to consider the proposal.
After discussion at the General Meeting, the proposal
must be approved by at least 3/4 of those members voting
in order for it to be adopted.
Article VIII: Ratification
This constitution shall be ratified by a 2/3 vote
of all players in good standing; to be valid it must be
ratified by January 1, 2002. The vote may be conducted by
email.
